BTRC instructions for more than 15 SIMs

As per BTRC guidelines, a customer with 17-digit national identity (NID) card or 10-digit smart national identity card (SNID) no. can have no more than 15 SIM cards simultaneously. According to the instructions, ownership of any more than 15 SIMs should be changed by 15 November 2022 to avoid inadvertent SIM closure.

Question 1: How do I check if I have more than 15 SIMs in my name?

Answer: You can dial *16001# (without any charge) from your mobile to check how many numbers are registered with your NID/SNID.

Question 2: I received an SMS that more than 15 numbers are registered with my NID/SNID, and the additional SIMs will be blocked!

Answer: According to the government instruction, 1 person can have a total of 15 numbers of all operators registered together with a NID or SNID. If more than 15 numbers are registered, the additional numbers will be closed at any time after 15 November 2022 as per the instructions of BTRC.

Customer’s action to change ownership

As per the instructions of BTRC, there is a rule of maximum 15 number registration for all operators with one NID/SNID. For any additional numbers, you can keep your Airtel number active by changing ownership to your relative or friend's name. Customers are requested to visit their nearest Robi Sheba/Airtel Care or biometric retail point with their relative/friends by 15 November 2022 and register the number with the NID/SNID of the relative/friend and change the ownership.
